Celebrating a Year of Giving
Giving at Georgia State University celebrated another successful semester by recognizing those donors who have made the greatest impact. Members of the Robinson College Dean’s Society and members of the President’s Society were honored at two annual events to commemorate the end of the spring 2015 semester.
The Robinson College Dean’s Society is a new annual leadership gift club that recognizes the extraordinary generosity of alumni and friends of the Robinson College of Business. On April 30, an annual event was held to honor and thank the donors who gave leadership gifts to the college of business.
Frank (BBA ’78) and Karen Boykin hosted the event. Frank is the CFO of Mohawk Industries and serves on the Robinson Board of Advisors. The dean, current board chair Connie McDaniel, other board members, and friends of the college all attended. A jazz trio from the School of Music provided music for the evening.
On May 14, the President’s Society had its annual reception to recognize Georgia State University’s most loyal supporters. The society comprises four circles:
- Leaders Circle – cumulative lifetime giving of $1 million or more
- Benefactors Circle – cumulative lifetime giving of $100,000 to $999,999
- Legacy Circle – planned gift of any amount
- Partners Circle – $1,000 or more during the current fiscal year
The event was held at Park Tavern in Piedmont Park and was hosted by the GSU Foundation, President Becker and First Lady Laura Voisinet. President Becker and GSU Foundation board chair and Robinson alumnus Brad Ferrer made remarks. Next year’s event will be held on May 12.
Gifts to Georgia State reach well past the university and its students and faculty. Those directed to us also benefit our city, our state and beyond through resulting enrichment in the economy, arts and culture, and health care. Through donor help, Georgia State is able to help students thrive for decades to come.
